Rejuvenating Back and Shin Treatment
After a season of covering up and keeping warm in centrally heated rooms your skin starts to suffer, especially the skin on your back and shins. We are offering a new treatment to slough off dead skin cells, deep cleanse and moisturise the skin using specially blended nourishing oils to promote new healthy cell renewal.

This treatment starts with gentle brushing of the shins to slough off the dead skin cells, followed by a gentle salt scrub then a massage using a special nourishing blend of sweet almond, jojoba and detoxifying essential oils. The process is repeated for the back but firmer pressure is applied, as the skin is much thicker in this area.

Manicure
Manicure includes file, cuticle work, hand and arm massage and polish of your choice.

Pedicure
Treat your feet to the pampering they deserve. A bubbly foot soak followed by file and cuticle work, hard skin removal, foot massage and polish of your choice.

Anti-Cellulite Thigh Treatment
We tend to take less exercise and eat more comforting foods during the winter months, not to mention the alcohol consumed over Christmas. This is disastrous for the areas that develop cellulite. Our anti-cellulite treatment gets best results when taken regularly for 6 weeks, but you have to start somewhere….so why not here.

First a brisk body brush to remove dead surface cells and encourage efficient lymphatic circulation, then a firm deep tissue massage that will help break down the fatty deposits below the surface of the skin. We use a detoxifying blend of oils to enhance your body’s natural ability to remove waste products.

Swedish Body Massage
Healthy skin does not only refer to the face. Massage to the body will help maintain a smooth, soft skin, resistant to infection and increasing the ability to retain moisture. The skin's natural functions will be stimulated improving the condition of the skin and the warmth created will help relax the body physically and mentally.

Body massage originated in Sweden. Swedish body massage is the original massage technique involving a sequence of movements working superficially and deeper into the tissue layers.

Movements such as effleurage work over the skin with the palm of the hand producing relaxation, whereas movements like petrissage work deeply.

Petrissage movements such as wringing and kneading will help to relieve tension promoting deep relaxation in the tissues and muscles.

As no two people are alike, the body massage sequence will be adapted to the client's needs.

Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage is a wonderfully relaxing treatment based on an ancient Ayurvedic healing system.

By concentrating on the areas most vulnerable to stress and tension, regular Indian head massage can provide a de-stressing programme for body and mind. Working on the upper back, shoulders, head and neck, this treatment can release blocked energy, increase blood flow and energise the whole body.

The massage can be performed through the clothes or for maximum benefit and to allow the application of oils, the client can remove upper garments. Using towels to maintain comfort and modesty. The treatment is performed with the client in a seated position.

Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy massage is a gentle, relaxing and truly holistic treatment, taking account of the mind, body and spirit.

It works on the principle that the most effective way to promote health and prevent illness is to strengthen the body’s immune system; in doing so, it helps to restore harmony between mind and body.

The therapy involves the use of pure essential oils; these oils are chosen to suit each person’s individual ailments and skin type. The therapeutic properties of these oils help restore balance in the body and the massage techniques used to apply them can help improve blood and lymph circulation, release tension and aid relaxation.

Reflexology
Reflexology is of ancient Chinese origin and has been around for thousands of years. It is reported that is can reduce pain and encourage healing in the body.

Related to acupuncture and acupressure, it uses pressure or reflex points on the feet that correspond to different parts of the body. Reflexology stimulates these points, improves circulation, balances and relaxes the body, evoking a sense of well being.

Treatment involves applying pressure to the precise reflex points with the tip of the thumb or the fingers. The pressure applied is firm but not heavy, and in different parts of the feet, varying sensations will be felt by the person receiving the treatment. Reflexology is also a diagnostic technique – which means it can be used to find out where imbalances are in the body.

Reiki
Reiki is a natural healing energy activated by intention. It works at every level, not just the physical, and promotes the body’s regenerative self-healing ability. The practice of Reiki is an original method of healing developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the 20th century.

The word Reiki is two Japanese words combined – ‘Rei’ and ‘Ki’. Rei is understood to mean ‘God’s wisdom’ or the ‘Higher Power’ and Ki means ‘Universal Energy’ or ‘Life Force Energy’. Combining the two words gives us the meaning of Reiki ~

Reiki is a non-invasive therapy whose purpose is to treat holistically and to restore homeostasis.

Reiki practitioners access this universal life force to restore balance and bring about healing by placing their hands on (or over) chakras and areas of the body where major glands and organs are located. Often they are guided by subtle, intuitive wisdom and may move their hands in accordance with their intuition.

The recipient automatically draws in only as much energy as is needed; using it in whatever way is most appropriate at the time.

Reiki may be experienced as a flow of energy, mild tingling, warmth or coolness.

Reiki is deeply relaxing and has a profoundly calming effect that is particularly effective in relieving stress.

Illness can be a time of great stress. Reiki can help us cope by encouraging relaxation and bringing balance to both mind and emotions.

Benefits reported by clients to the UK Reiki Federation include deep relaxation promoting a calm, peaceful sense of well being; healing of problems on a mental, emotional and spiritual level and closer connection with inner wisdom: pain relief and control; accelerated wound healing.

Hopi Ear Candling
We only use all natural Original BIOSUN Hopi Earcandles

The BIOSUN HOPI Earcandles are approved as a medical product according to medical devise directive 93/42/eec

These candles are still made by hand using the traditional recipe and the finest regularly tested ingredients.

The candles are hollow tubes made from organically grown flax and steeped in pure beeswax, honey extract and traditional herbs such as sage, St John’s wort, chamomile and pure essential oils. They provide a non-invasive treatment of the ears, which are used to treat a variety of conditions in a practice often known as Thermal Auricular Therapy.

The use of ear candles is thought to be thousands of years old and was seen in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, though it is the native American Hopi Indian tribe that had the most recent influence on modern Europe and helped term the phrase hopi ear candle. It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual basis, but much later on a purely physical basis. However, the practice reached the modern world via the native North American Hopi Indians.

Ear candles have a purely physical function. A light suction action (chimney effect) and the movement of the flame create a vibration of air in the ear candle, generating a massage-like effect on the eardrum. It draws any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. Most impurities or deposits are carried away through the candle "chimney", although some of them can be found in the lower section of the candle after removal from the ear, or some wax could even work its way up to the surface 24-48 hours after.

This treatment induces a pleasant feeling of warmth and a balance of pressure in the ears, forehead and sinuses. It is soothing and helpful for earache and headache, ear noises, stress and nervousness.

There are some Contra-indications to ear candling. If you suffer from any of the following the treatment cannot be carried out.

  • Perforated eardrum
  • Tympanostomy tube implants (grommets)
  • Inflammation or infection of the ear
  • Skin diseases in or around the ear
  • Any condition of the ear for which you are currently receiving medical treatment,

Though results may vary from patient to patient, some of our clients have found the treatments helpful with:

  • Cleaning out excessive or compacted wax in the ears
  • Eliminating backed up mucus
  • Alleviating allergic conditions
  • Diminishing chronic sinusitis
  • Enhancing hearing, or even taste and smell
  • Relieving ear pain
  • Restoring equilibrium or pressure in the ear (e.g. for frequent flying, sports such as diving, etc)
  • Noises in the ears, ringing, tinnitus

    Colour therapy
Colour therapy can be shown to help on a physical level, which is perhaps easier to quantify, however there are deeper issues around the colours on the psychological and spiritual levels.

Our well being is not, of course, purely a physical issue. Fortunately, many more practitioners, both orthodox and complementary are now treating patients in an holistic manner. That is to say, we are body, mind and spirit and none of these areas function entirely alone; each has an effect upon the other. This is why Colour Therapy can be so helpful since colour addresses all levels of our being.

As babies we first experience colour in the womb where we are enveloped in a nurturing and comforting pink. Then as a child we associate with colour as part of our first learning processes. These first associations contribute to our consciousness. As we get older we attach many different feelings, memories and meanings to certain colours and this can then become a feature in our subconscious. We can build up prejudices to colours which have happy, sad, or frightening connotations for us.

All life experiences make an impression upon us. Some experiences will be positive and some negative. It is these negative experiences which can manifest themselves physically over time as dis-ease. As an example:- perhaps we have, over the years, been in a situation where we have felt unable, for one reason or another, to speak our mind, or to express our needs and feelings. This can manifest as a problem in the throat chakra. The throat chakra relates in the spiritual aspect to self expression. Thus, if our self expression has been blocked, the energy in this area will not be free flowing.

Working with the appropriate colour/colours can help to dispel negative feelings, free blocks and re-balance the body.
